Traditional hand block printing using natural dye is a stunning technique creating such a raw, imperfect yet intricate aesthetic. Ifran is from the community of Ajrakhpur, here he runs a block printing business working in natural plant dyes producing beautiful hand crafted textiles.

Some of the plants used are madder, pomegranate, tumeric, rust, beetlenut and many more. This tradition of natural dyeing has been used for thousands of years and is important to keep alive for many reasons especially the conservation of our planet and its people.

I have collected a range of samples to take back to the studio and have a play with.
